Richard Clegg hand sculpts from recycled boulder offcuts of Yorkshire Millstone Grit. He works freehand with a grinder and finishes with fine chiselling. Envisioned to sit beautifully within planting or placed in gardens or larger landscapes, he produces pieces by working intuitively to achieve a free flowing and totally unique design. He works with nature to enhance and amplify the natural characteristics of the stone, out of the love of creating something which people can enjoy forever in their gardens.
Having a long history of involvement in the aesthetics of building and supplying tasteful inclusions at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and being party to six Gold Medal winning gardens, the intention has always been to complement a garden rather than dominate it. He believes that the stone lends itself to this more readily than other materials and, of course, becomes a permanent feature.
