Chris is an intuitive artist working in the medium of bespoke fused glass. Her art is centered in concepts such as flow, culture, symbolism, and ancient wisdom. The resulting pieces embody these values, reconnecting them in a modern context, bringing personal and public spaces to life. They are created with the intent to take on new life through either natural, or directional lighting, revealing hidden colours and forms. Each viewing becomes an invitation to create moments of pause and reflection.
The process of creating these pieces begins with picturing their intended space, whether that be a beautiful restorative garden, or personal indoor sanctuary. Often this will involve research, sketching and the mapping out of initial ideas. With precise attention to detail, multiple layers of glass, and successive firing, the entire process often takes weeks to complete. Additional drawn details, and 24ct goldleaf are used to reinforce symbolism. In time, profound lines of thought merge into a sense of flow, creating a unifying and uplifting visual representation.
Chrisʼ larger works can be found in various garden exhibitions across the country. These pieces often find their way into collectorsʼ private gardens and homes. Whilst collectors often select her work for her unique vision, Chris is also happy to work to a commission brief. Careful consideration is given to the collaboration of ideas, and the space where the finished piece will find its home.
